In 1893 Henry Morrison Flagler arrived and came up with a plan to turn the area into a resort. The plan included building a city across Lake Worth for his employees. That city became West Palm Beach. In 1984 the town incorporated as the city of West Palm Beach and became known as a bustling frontier town as wild as any in the Wild West.
